Single, dual and triple agonists
What each receptor adds, and which compound is which.
Reference only. This page covers what the compound is, how it is presented and how it is handled. It does not give dosing protocols or administration schedules, and it is not medical advice.
| Receptors | What that means | In this range |
|---|---|---|
| GLP-1 only | A single agonist, the original class | Semaglutide |
| GLP-1 and GIP | A dual agonist, adding the GIP receptor | Tirzepatide |
| GLP-1, GIP and glucagon | A triple agonist. The glucagon component is what distinguishes it from a dual | Retatrutide |
Why the naming is unhelpful
Nothing in the names indicates receptor count, so two compounds that differ substantially can read as interchangeable. The class line on each listing is where that information actually lives.
